In this blog, I would like to inform you all the same which is run by fraudsters related to eBay gift cards, and how to protect yourself against this fraud.

Let us first see how they try to fool us and steal our hard-earned money. These scammers will try to contact you via Facebook ads or Facebook Marketplace and inform you about their listing on eBay however due to some issue they are not able to continue the sale on eBay and this is why they are sending you emails and contacting you via Facebook. On top of that, these scammers share false contact details to talk to eBay agents, however, they will talk to you instead of eBay support. Once you are trapped in their talks then the real game starts. First, they will send you a fake invoice to pay with fake order details. Interestingly they will insist you pay via eBay Gift card so that you can not file a complaint. They force you to purchase a Gift card and ask you to share the Gift card's 13-digit code with the image of the Gift card, once you share the details then they will stop answering your messages, calls, and emails. So people, to protect yourself please follow below mentioned practices-- 1. eBay never asks you to pay via Gift card 2. eBay never allows sellers to contact buyers outside eBay as it is against eBay's policy. 3. If you are ever contacted by such a fraudster directly report these frauds on eBay or send the entire email to the below-mentioned email address- Forward the email to spoof@eBay.com 4. You can directly contact eBay using the below-mentioned contact details--For US and CA members: eBay Phone Support-- https://www.ebay.com/help/gid?id=5190&initFrom=EUAview eBay email support-- customerhelp@ebay.com eBay live chat support-- https://www.ebay.com/help/contact_us?id=4197&st=10 5. Handle your eBay redemption code as though it were cash.
6. Don't give out your gift card code to anyone.
7. Redeem your gift card exclusively at eBay.com's checkout.
8. Never pay someone else using a gift card that you got on eBay.
9. Proceed with caution when a seller claims they can only take gift cards as payment; it's a fraud.
People if you already paid them without knowing their bad intentions then please do not worry, report them to eBay, your local authorities, and FTC. If you are not in the United States, you can report the scam to your local consumer protection agency, econsumer.gov, or the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Both the eBay gift card itself and the purchase receipt should be kept. To confirm that you purchased the gift card, eBay will require these as proof of purchase.
